mission

kurmalliance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization aimed toward saving sea turtles and their ecosystems. we adopt the turtle as our totem. aside from being one of the most chill and snuggleable critters in the sea, turtles are a great barometer for the health of the ocean.
we save the turtles, we save everything. we save ourselves.
“If we were logical, the future would be bleak, indeed. But we are more than logical. We are human beings, and we have faith, and we have hope, and we can work.”  -- jacques cousteau

the kurmalliance was hatched in response to the debacle that was the great gulf oil spill of 2010.  on june 22, news leaked that endangered juvenile sea turtles were being caught in oil collection booms and burned alive!  after watching tons upon tons of gallons of greed and corruption being spewed into our beloved mother ocean, this is the straw that broke the turtles back.  i got a phone call from vishnu...

"how much of this shit are you going to take?  are you ready yet?"

"not another spoonful!  and no... we are not ready  ...but we going in anyway."        a revolution never comes with a warning.

many of you came along for the ride.  thank you.

what does it take to activate an activist?..  for us, the recipe was simple.  take two parts crude oil, one endangered sea turtle, baste the turtle in oil,  add fire, & ...voila! ignite the turtles, ignite the kurmalliance! and small group activism.  what's your recipe?

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”   margaret mead

the yoga community is vast, and powerful, and diverse, just like the ocean.  deep!  it is my belief, and intention, that we unite, and roll straight back toward the ocean, like a wave of consciousness, pouring back in.  if we can start awakening to the plight of the oceans, we can save her.  please guys,
...the turtles.

we believe in direct action.  we don't feel that it is enough to just send a donation to some organization that has a staff and a payroll, and bills to pay and you never really know if the contribution you sent, did the work that you had intended it to.  ...saved the turtle that you wanted to save?  the yogis and activists that are members of the kurmalliance, and our amigos, do this work out of passion and out of dharma.  no one takes a salary.  we don't rent office space, or buy computers. we work to save the ocean, and the turtles.  we want to make things happen.  there are many things to do.  every green dollars that comes in, goes right back into the blue.  you can rest assured that your contribution will go into direct action in the sea.  make things happen.  we save.  we seva.
